Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 April 2026
GuardianRide (“GuardianRide,” “we,” “us”) helps schools, drivers, and parents coordinate safer student transport. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to anyone who uses our website, mobile apps, or dashboards. That includes parents, school staff, drivers, and visitors to guardianride.in. Where a school is the customer, the school decides what data is collected from its students and parents; we process that data on the school's instructions.
2. Information we collect
- Account information. Name, contact details, role (parent / driver / school admin), and login credentials.
- Student information (provided by the school). Student name, class, photo, parent contacts, and assigned route.
- Trip data. Vehicle GPS location, route taken, timestamps of stops, and driver actions during the trip.
- In-vehicle media. Where the school enables it, video recordings from the on-board camera.
- Communications. Messages and notifications sent through the platform.
- Device and usage data. Device type, operating system, app version, IP address, crash reports, and basic usage analytics.
3. How we use the information
- To provide the service — route assignment, live tracking, alerts, communication.
- To keep the service safe and reliable — fraud prevention, abuse detection, debugging.
- To support customers — handling questions, troubleshooting, billing.
- To comply with legal obligations — record keeping, lawful requests from authorities.
- To improve the product — analyzing aggregate patterns to make features work better.
4. Children's data
The platform handles personal data of children in connection with school transport services. Schools collect this data from parents under the parents' consent; we process it on the school's behalf. We do not show children advertising, we do not sell children's data, and access to a child's data is restricted to that child's parent(s), the assigned driver during the trip, and authorized school staff.
5. How we share information
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us run the platform — for example, hosting, analytics, push notifications, email delivery, payment processing. They are contractually required to use the data only for the purposes we specify.
- Schools and parents within their own scope — a parent sees their child's trips, a school sees its own students and routes.
- Law enforcement and regulators, when we have a good-faith belief we are legally required to do so.
- Successors in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with continued protection of your data.
6. Data retention
We keep account information for as long as the account is active. We keep trip and location data for the duration set by the customer school (typically 90 days for routine trips, longer for incidents). In-vehicle video is retained for the period defined in the customer's contract — usually 7 to 30 days unless flagged for review. After the retention period, data is deleted or de-identified.
7. Security
We use TLS (HTTPS) to encrypt data in transit, role-based access so each user only sees what they should, and standard infrastructure controls to protect our systems. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever experience a breach that affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Confirm what personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete your data, subject to any legal retention requirements.
- Withdraw consent that you previously gave (this may end your access to parts of the service).
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
To exercise these rights, write to us at the email address below. Where data is held under a school's account, we will route the request to the school as the data fiduciary.
9. Cookies and analytics
The website uses minimal cookies and standard web analytics to understand how the site is used. We do not use advertising cookies on the marketing website.
10. International transfers
Our infrastructure is primarily hosted in India. Where a service provider processes data outside India, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product or applicable laws evolve. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy here with a new “last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
